Shepton & District Model Railway Society is always ready to welcome new members, no matter what their ability or interest. Current members interests are predominantly in 00 and N gauge but 00-9 also has a keen following. If you feel that you would like to find out more about the SDMRS, its membership and its members benefits then read on. You will, of course, want to visit the Club and to avoid a wasted journey it is recommended that you contact someone first. 43484 and 34109 head south from BinegarOur model railway activities revolve around meetings at the Clubroom which are currently normally Tuesday and Thursday evenings but members often meet up other evenings in addition. The SDMRS Clubroom is at Cranmore alongside the East Somerset Railway so now is a good time to get involved with settling into and shaping the new Clubroom. At these meetings work continues on new and existing Club layouts. The large layout currently under construction is based on Binegar on the SDJR. From time to time running nights are held so that members and visitors can run their stock; these sessions are likely to be more frequent in the new premises where a new workshop area is also planned.
The Club is very active in the model railway exhibition scene, both with Club and Member's layouts. Extra operators are always welcome. And of course the Club organises its own Annual Model Railway Exhibition in Shepton Mallet each June.
